Under these ever-changing circumstances, one thing is for certain, Scouting must go on! In order to achieve this Section C-4 has been adapting and evolving throughout the OA and they’re delivering to their members in numerous ways. These adaptations have not only come in the likes of a rescheduled Conclave and new digital ways to engage membership but also since their merger back in 2018.
Conclave 2020 was scheduled to be hosted May 29-31 at the Summit Bechtel Reserve, but after some thoughtful consideration, it is now being rescheduled for later in the year. This announcement was first made during the Section’s first virtual COC meeting in late March, and they already have another meeting scheduled in April to vote on the new date and location. But even though Conclave is postponed, C-4 has been working diligently with their members to keep everyone engaged remotely!
Throughout the Central Region’s spirit week during the first full week of April, C-4 kept persistent in keeping a constant presence. Each day the Section Officers took turns posting in relation to the different themes, and even made a competition with the section officers on Friday to determine “who wore it best”. The Section also enjoyed seeing all the different spirit week posts from our members and how they are staying active in their section, lodge, and chapter at home.
Additionally, the Section’s new program called the Lodge Partnership Program is beginning to take off as they enter the second month since it’s installment. They have noticed that their lodge pairs have found numerous ways to communicate and share different ideas and practices remotely with each other. In addition to reaching their thrive initiative, the Section Leadership has also added condensed training sessions to every one of their COC meetings in addition to the ACT Conference. Their overall objective is to equip each lodge with the tools and resources they need to ensure they are thriving in the future.
Looking forward, Section C-4 is excited to continue engaging members remotely through our different social media platforms. They are excited to give back through their new Lodge Partnership Program, Council of Chiefs meetings, remotely at home, and at Conclave! Make sure to keep an eye out for the Conclave 2020 announcement, and also ways to stay involved and connected with your fellow brothers through the coming months!
